As Zach Holman said Dotfiles Are Meant to Be Forked. So to be one of the “Cool Kids” I’ve decided to do the same. I did a refresh of my dotfiles about 2 months ago, and I have currently based them off Ben O’Hara’s Dotphiles.
I’ve tried a ton of different dotfile managers, and finally decided to go with Dotphiles. I will eventually switch to using
Ansible to manage them, as I have fallen in love with it.
Feel free to fork and contribute or use them. I wouldn’t reccomend using these without heavy customization, as they are set up for my work environment and may requre other files I have not included.
Below is the README.md from my dots
Run dotsync ./.dotfiles/dotsync/bin/dotsync -L
See the documentation for dotsync for more information.
Any existing ~/.dotfiles will be backed up into ~/.backup/dotfiles/ if found
This is only required if you use the trapd00r theme. Otherwise skip.
The them I use requires some extra steps in order to work. Just follow the following:
cd ~/bin # assume that your ~/bin exists and is in your $PATH
chmod +x zsh_path
tar xvzf Term-ExtendedColor*.tar.gz
perl Makefile.PL # assuming you have perl-Makefile-Parser installed on your box
sudo make install
*If I “stole” something from you and left you out please open an issue.
Feel free to fork and send Pull Requests.
